Toshiba Satellite M505-S4972
$740.00
Released October, 2009
The Pros:Built-in 3G card allows access to wireless networks on the go - a fairly rare feature. Decent battery life for an older laptop with these specs (just under 4 hours). Good-quality display - bright, good contrast, vibrant colours.
The Cons:Weak Pentium processor lags quite a bit throughout day-to-day use. Well-known issue with the aircard makes buying a separate wireless adapter a necessity. Keyboard doesn't provide much tactile feel, takes a while to get used to.
The Toshiba Satellite M505-S4972 is one of eight notebooks in the M500 series that was released in October 2009 alongside the Windows 7 operating system. It is one of the weaker-end models, as it does not include an HDMI interface or Harmon/Kardon.

It does, however, feature an Intel Pentium T4300 processor, 3GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 250GB SATA hard-disc drive. It’s more geared towards business and communications needs, as is evident by its 802.11b/g/n wireless connectivity, Gigabit LAN, and webcam/microphone combo set. Included also is a security cable lock slot for securing one’s laptop to an unmovable object; a DVD multi-drive for watching and/or recording movies; and an ExpressCard slot.
