Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5873
$649.00
Released June, 2008
The Pros:Integrated graphics performance is better than expected, certainly stronger than the Intel integrated graphics. Far lower starting price than Intel Core 2 Duo based notebooks. Offers a generous 3GB of ram, plenty for a budget notebook.
The Cons:Terrible design for power socket. Two tiny plastic clips hold the internal power socket inside the notebook, which snap with anything apart from very cautious use! AMD's dual core processors are less efficient and warmer running than their Intel Core 2 Duo counterparts, albeit cheaper. Massive amounts of bloat ware, will require a clean install in order to get the most out of this computer.
The Toshiba Satellite L305-S5873 is part of Toshiba's Satellite L300 Series and features a 2.0 GHz AMD Turion X2 processor, ATI Radeon 3100 graphics engine, 2 GB of DDR2 memory, and a 160 GB hard drive.

Intel's low cost Celeron processors' performance are beginning to catch up, as they start using dual core models, this raises question marks over whether the AMD CPUs are still the best budget option
