The Toshiba Satellite A505-S6996 is a higher-end, 16" notebook computer, identical to the A505-6995 but with a longer, 2-year warranty. It features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor clocking in at 2.13 GHz, 6 GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive.

The A505-S6996 is one of several models in the A500 series with a discrete graphics card, utilizing the NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M. With shared memory and this 1GB card, the notebook features 3838 MB of total graphics memory, enabling more than adequate gaming performance. It is a step up from the S6992 in memory, and also adds Dolby surround sound. The A505-S6996 also features a slot-loading CD/DVD drive, built-in webcam, and an HDMI port for playing HD content on a larger display. Windows 7 is pre-installed.
