The Sony VAIO Y Series VPCY115FX is mid-to-high-end notebook that does not come with a CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray reader. The system is intended for portable use with media being added via the internet or external disc drives that are purchased separately.

The system is made with high quality components to serve its purpose at performing standard tasks with varying amounts of multimedia such as videos, music, and pictures; the system is capable of playing games but not the most recently released, and will struggle on higher settings. The laptop has a Intel Core 2 Duo processor clocked at 1.30 Ghz, 4GB of RAM, and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator with 1759MB of memory as a GPU. Depending on the battery being used the laptop can last anywhere from 8 hours to 12 hours with a larger battery with one charge.
