Released January, 2009
The Pros:Good performance for the price. Good cooling system. Solid build quality for a budget oriented product.
The Cons:Short battery life. Fan can be noisy at times. Exterior design is a hit and miss, a little disappointing from Sony.
The Sony VAIO NW Series is a relatively inexpensive VAIO laptop that has a reduced screensize and processing power to reflect the price. Though not as powerful as the AW series, the NW series has a 2.10GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 400GB for the hard drive and up to 4GB for the RAM.

This is less than what is available in more expensive models. The laptop comes in three colors: Walnut Brown, Birch White or Siler Rattan. One of the features of the NW that is better than the AW series is the battery life which can go for up to 4 hours with a standard capacity battery, a good hour or so better than the other VAIO laptops. The Sony VAIO NW has a built-in MOTION EYE camera and microphone and a smaller, 15.5" screen.
