Sony VAIO NW Series VGN-NW240F
$730.00
Released January, 2009
The Pros:Antiglare coating allows for clearer viewing in high-light conditions. Variety of case colour options. Supports the newest networking technologies (Gigabit Ethernet, N wireless).
The Cons:Fairly dated specs at this point. Generally pretty unreliable--the motherboard is known to burn out after only a year or more of use. Stuck with lower 1366 x 768 resolution on a larger display.
The Sony VAIO NW Series VGN-NW240F is a general-purpose notebook featuring an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (2.2GHz), 4GB of DDR2 RAM (up to 8GB), and a 320GB SATA hard-disc drive. Included is a flat chiclet-style Sony keyboard with comfortable key spacing, an amply sized touchpad, and a critically acclaimed Desktop Off button that’s useful when connected to an external display device.

The VGN-NW240F 15.5" display can handle HD movies with crisp images, but is limited to relatively poor audio lacking in bass and substance. Additional features include a webcam/mic combo set, an HDMI output for streaming to an HDTV, and a FireWire port. Note that Bluetooth is optional, which means connecting to a wireless mouse or headset requires an additional purchase.

Overpriced compared to newer Sandy Bridge-based laptops which offer much better specs at about the same price.

#sony_vaio_nw_series_vgn_nw240f Horrible computer, only gave me problems and technical support is powerless to provide effective support, if you get a lemmon you are stuck with it, or you have to wait for months and patiently call sony every day to get a deffective part replaced. Mine just went to San Diego for repairs after one month of daily speaking to somebody different at technical support. Don't buy a sony Vaio!!
