Lenovo ThinkPad W500

$1,904.00 Released July, 2008

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Higher screen resolution than Apple equivalent (upgradeable further). ThinkPad bodies and keyboards are second to none for quality and productivity. Extremely inexpensive ($1350!) considering the quality hardware and performance (T9400, FireGL V5700, etc...).

The Cons:Default build only comes with 1GB of ram and 160GB drive. DVD writer costs $70 extra - should be standard. No wireless N by default, costs $20.

Evolved from the T61p, the ThinkPad W500 is a business class workstation laptop. Based on the new Centrino 2 platform, the W500 is a powerhouse with support for the newest and fastest 45nm Core 2 Duos and DDR3 ram.

Yale: #lenovo_thinkpad_w500 Today I just noticed they're selling the default W500 for $1350! This is an unbeatable deal if you need a desktop replacement - especially if you can really appreciate the processing/graphic performance, a high resolution screen, and ThinkPad keyboard/build. Upgrades do cost extra, but they generally seem worth it in most cases. Oct 20, 08
