HP G71-340US

$780.00 Released June, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Affordable price. Respectable battery life considering its size. Comes with Windows 7.

The Cons:Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics - cannot be used for any gaming whatsoever. Comes loaded with a ton of bloatware. Speakers aren't loud enough.

The HP G71-340US is a business notebook from the HP G70 series. It is in fact the most powerful unit in the series, as it houses an Intel Core 2 Duo processor capable of a 2.2GHz clock speed. The unit also hosts 4GB of RAM, but can easily be upgraded to over 8000MB — enough to power the most memory-intensive applications available on the market.

As well as being handy for using various applications at once, the HP G71-340US is also especially friendly for users seeking to either utilize the power of the net or turn their computer into a multimedia portal. It hosts 802.11 Draft n wireless technology for enhanced Internet speeds, as well as standard Ethernet. And for the latter, it includes a large 17.3” screen coupled with a DVD drive. But perhaps most notable is the HDMI interface, which allows users to transmit Internet or DVD video content directly to a compatible HDTV set. For further details, please review NewEgg.

David Pifer: #hp_g71_340us I have better and the volume turns up higher on my Sprint Highnote cellphone. I have called HP tech support twice and nothing can be done. My friend has a Toshiba which cost less, its speakers which I think are Bose can make it into a boombox, I'd settle for the sound on my two year old HP laptop. I'm very very very disappointed, it was a gift and I'm not sure if I can take it back. Any others have this issue out there? Jan 5, 10

Anonymous: Yes, I have the same problem. Can't get the speakers up loud enough. Sometimes they work louder on some items than others?? Can't figure that one. Does this one have a 3.5 mm plug for an external microphone? May 6, 11
