HP Compaq 515
$530.00
Released January, 2009
The Pros:Launches and runs applications quickly, not much lag. Connects to WiFi consistently, don't have to worry about dropped connections. Good flexibility with Windows, can run XP, Vista or 7 easily.
The Cons:Casing is a flimsy thin plastic, lots of flex. Battery life isn't great, won't usually get any more than 2 hours. Speakers never get very loud, sound washed out.
The HP Compaq 515 is a laptop that is discontinued, so the models still out on the market are the last ones available. It is a smaller, notebook sized laptop with a 14 inch screen and weighing only 5 pounds.

The processor is decent, a AMD Athlon X2 QL-54 that provides 2.1 GHz, good enough to handle 2008 and earlier games and programs as well as some of the productivity programs on the market. The HP Compaq 515 comes with a card reader that is only able to handle SD Memory Cards and MultiMediaCards, unlike other laptops and computers that are able to handle eight or more different card types. The laptop comes with a LightScribe drive, meaning it can label discs directly without the need for sticky labels or other additional purchases. For laptops that came out in the same time period, the HP Compaq 515 has a decent enough 60cell lithium ion battery that can run for up to 4 hours at a time.
