Gateway EC58

$800.00 Released January, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Comes with Windows 7. A good amount of memory and drive capacity. HDMI output.

The Cons:Slow individual core speed - poor for power hungry single threaded applications such as games. Intel GMA graphics - worst of the worst for 3D rendering. 15.6" display has the same resolution as the 11.6" brother model (EC14).

The Gateway EC54 is the most powerful of three thin-and-light notebooks (EC14, EC54, and EC58) released in October 2009 alongside the Windows 7 operating system. It features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 500GB SATA hard-disc drive.

It’s useful for both business and entertainment purposes, as it incorporates various communications and multimedia features. Included is Internet connectivity (wired/wireless), a built-in webcam and microphone set, and a 6-cell battery that lasts up to 8 hours. More notable about the EC54 is that it can handle both HD video and audio. This is due in part to Dolby Sound Room audio enhancement technology, which allows for crisp and natural surround-sound audio.
