Fujitsu Lifebook P7230

$2,179.00 Released February, 2007

Product Shot 1 The Pros:LED backlit screen. Runs at a cool operating temperature.

The Cons:Fans can be quite loud. Uses 1.8" hard drive.

The P7230 from Fujitsu is the first laptop available to the public that is powered by an LED backlight. This means that the laptop can stay brighter for longer and uses less battery power. A multi-use expansion slot allows for swapping in and out an optical media drive, a second battery or other peripherals.

Product Shot 2 With a second battery slotted in, the P7230 gets up to 9.5 hours of continued use.

With its small size Fujitsu could not include a full-sized keyboard. The key buttons themselves are smaller than a regular keyboard, and certain keys such as page down and page up require holding down a modifier button to access.

The Lifebook P7230 is available in 3 different configurations to suit your budget and needs. All configurations have a base configuration including a built-in microphone and camera, as well as an embedded fingerprint sensor. While the hard drive sizes differ between versions, all are shock mounted P-ATA 100 drives.

All three configurations ship with 1GB of RAM and while the hard drive capacities differ, the speed of the hard drive remains consistent at 4200RPM which is on the low end of the scale.

Amanie: #fujitsu_lifebook_p7230 I had the opportunity to see laptop screens with LED backlights a couple of years ago, while they were still in testing and they were very sweet. Bright, with nice, saturated colour and an impressive contrast ratio. Feb 7, 07

Erik: #fujitsu_lifebook_p7230 Sweet. Anything that makes the battery last longer while making the screen brighter has got to be good for business. Feb 7, 07
