Dell Vostro 1710

$858.00 Released February, 2008

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Upgraded 1440x900 pixel resolution gives you more definition and screen real estate over the 15" models 1280x800. Further upgradeable to 1920x1200. Higher quality design and construction compared to personal Dell laptops. Highly customizable (like any other Dell system).

The Cons:Glossy 1920x1200 screen. Considerably more expensive than the 15.4" model. Considering its intended use, the 17" screen and added weight offer little in terms of value.

The Vostro 1710 manufactured by Dell is a unique model within the Vostro Series. This laptop is intended to be a desktop replacement, but to also carry with it the convenience of a mobile business tool.

Where to Buy

What separates the 1710 from other Vostro models is the 17” Widescreen WXGA, giving it multimedia characteristic more than a mobile business tool. Upgrade the video card from the standard to a Discrete Graphic Card NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS and this unit has gaming and theatre experience potential, also supported by the 24X DVD/CD-RW combo drive and the two channel high definition audio codec. Dell still equipped the 1710, like the rest of the Vostro Series, with maximum connectivity potential reached by mobile broadband, and Next-Generation Wireless-N Wi-Fi. Lastly, durability has been a major part of this models design, giving it a magnesium-alloy enhanced chassis and a Mylar spill resistant keyboard.

aging platform comes with older hardware: includes old and crummy Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 - poor for any 3D rendering or high definition media, wireless G only, slower DDR2 RAM (667MHz maximum)

    base configuration is pretty crappy
