There are several optional services the consumer can sign up for to provide for their laptop in the case of damage or techical issues. The laptop includes several options to customize for increased security, such as a fingerprint reader for multi-factor authentication, an encrypted hard drive, and a Trusted Platform Module (TM) protected network connection. The Dell Vostro 1520 had some high-end hardware options, such as Intel Core 2 Duo processors and a NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, and comes with a larger screen than its sister products, the Dell Vostro 1220 and 1320. The laptop comes with several different Windows Vista options, including versions that have downgrade rights to Windows XP.
