Asus U6Vc

$1,555.00 Released January, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Doesn't come loaded up with any bloatware, just the raw OS. Decent hardware capable of tackling even a fair amount of gaming with relative ease. Decent battery life considering the specs.

The Cons:Ugly, blocky visual aesthetic. Very expensive for what it is. Very dated compared to more recent ultraportable/netbook offerings.

The Asus U6Vc is a small laptop designed to be a portable option for business. One unique feature that the laptop offers is a login through facial recognition - that is the SmartLogin system will detect the user's face and log on automatically.

Where to Buy

It is designed to learn variations in the user's facial features as well as detect them in different lighting conditions. The Asus U6Vc also comes with a fingerprint scanner, virtual camera for multi-window video conferencing, and LifeFrame which makes it easier to record, capture, and protect images. It also has a smart bootup, meaning the laptop uses Express Gate to allow the user to use essential functions, such as a web browser or instant messeging in a few seconds while the rest of the system boots up quietly in the background. The Asus U6Vc comes with a leather bound palm rest and a mocha sheen that seems to be aimed directly at consumers concerned with fashion.
