Asus F8P

$1,500.00 Released August, 2007

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Above avera processors and ram included. Good build quality overall, no keyboard flex, good quality plastics. Screen is of reasonable quality, compared to similar notebooks (14.1" LCD displays are poor in general, manufacturers' issue).

The Cons:Sub par keyboard typing feel, poor tactile feedback, key caps are made from cheap materials. Annoying to use touchpad, touchpad is small, and there are driver issues. Glossy reflective display, bad for use in brightly lit rooms and outdoors.

The F8P is a general purpose notebook from Asus. Built on the now outdated Centrino platform the F8P features a beautiful leather inlay, a hybrid TV tuner with remote, the latest in network connectivity (802.11 N and Bluetooth) and a Direct X 10 compatible video card from ATI for media and gaming.

With a regular 6 cell battery, the device lasts 2 and a half hours on power saving mode. While it does not provide exceptional performance in any definition of the word, the F8P does present a luxury alternative to the many bland looking entry level laptops - without a luxurious price tag. Comes in black and white.
